WhyInteractive is a digital design studio based in Hong Kong specializing in digital logos, animations, and designs for various websites and events. Their showreel at https://whyinteractive.com/showreel/ serves as a portfolio of their digital design projects. I enjoyed the simplistic visual aesthetic and the use of paralax scrolling to create a depth affect. The projects displayed are visually appealing, and I appreciated the variations in art style between projects while still retaining a consistent design aesthetic.
The site's home page does not validate, though of the 12 validation messages displayed, only 2 are errors, while 8 are information messages and 2 are warnings. CSS validation discovered 4 errors in the CSS code.
The showreel page does not validate. There are 47 errors, 11 warnings, and 4 information messages. There are only 3 errors in the CSS validation, however.
I rate the site design 8/10. The visuals displayed are very appealing, and I am interested to learn how what they've done can be accomplished using CSS. The art style is very futuristic and their choice of graphics contribrutes greatly to this effect. One flaw I noticed is that a few of the background images are either not properly rendered or sized, as they appear blurry, which stands out from the rest of the site's sleek design.
I rate the site usability 6/10. While the designs displayed are very interesting, none of the drop down links in the upper right hand menu appear to work (unless this is simply a list of the projects displayed on the page, though the fact that each title changes color and is displayed as a hyperlink suggests otherwise). If a user navigates to the home page, there is no link available to return to the showreel page.
The site does meet its purpose to display the talents and accomplishments of this design studio. A client seeking graphic design specialists will likely be impressed with the projects displayed and may seek to hire WhyInteractive to design future projects for them.
