Biography

Bomb the Music Industry! was a New York-based ska/punk rock musical collective formed by singer-songwriter, producer, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Rosenstock in 2004. Over the span of 10 years, Rosenstock played, recorded, and toured with a number of different musicians, releasing 7 full-length albums and a number of EP's and splits with other bands before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2012, and ultimately disbanding in 2014.

Bomb the Music Industry! embraced a DIY ethos and accessibility for all listeners, often encouraging fans to bring their own instruments to their all-ages shows for a chance to play on stage, as well as to bring their own T-shirts to be made into custom merchandise. Furthermore, Rosenstock released every album for free through his independent record label Quote Unquote Records, founded in 2006 as the first entirely donation-based record label.

Following the band's split, a documentary covering the band's history, musical process, and aesthetic was released in 2015, entitled "Never Get Tired". Rosenstock continued self-releasing music and touring under his own name, with his most recent album "HELLMODE" being released on August 31, 2023. Though they may not have topped the charts, Bomb the Music Industry! played an important role in indie music and the punk scene at large, and they shaped the way for independent musicians for years to come.
